Australia Update: Key Changes to Australia’s Skilled Visa Salary Requirements Effective 1 July 2026

The Australian Government has confirmed upcoming increases to the minimum income thresholds for employer-sponsored skilled visas, with new rates taking effect from 1 July 2026. The adjustments form part of the government’s annual indexation process and reflect a 3.9% rise, consistent with changes to Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE).

Updated Skilled Visa Income Thresholds (From 1 July 2026)

  • Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT)
    • Increasing from AUD 76,515 to AUD 79,499.
    • Applies to nominations for Subclass 482 (Core Skills Stream) and the Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186).
  • Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT)
    • Increasing from AUD 141,210 to AUD 146,717.
    • Applies to nominations under Subclass 482 (Specialist Skills Stream).
  • Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT)
    • Increasing from AUD 76,515 to AUD 79,499.
    • Applies to Subclass 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa) and Subclass 187 (Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme).

From 1 July 2026 onward, all new nomination applications (including renewal of existing visa) must meet the revised thresholds or the annual market salary rate, whichever is higher. These changes will not affect current visa holders or nominations submitted before that date.
