USCIS Closes Biometrics Processing Unit

On July 28, 2021, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it would be closing its Biometrics Processing Unit in Alexandria, Virginia. As a result, USCIS will no longer accept written requests to reschedule biometric services appointments scheduled at Application Support Centers.

Individuals who wish to reschedule a biometrics appointment must call the USCIS Contact Center at 800-375-8283 (TTY 800-767-1833) before the date and time of their original appointment and establish good cause for the rescheduling. Failure to appear or reschedule a biometrics appointment may cause USCIS to consider the underlying application or petition to be abandoned, which could result in a denial.
