Spain Immigration Alert | Salary Threshold Update — June 2026

Key Changes to Immigration Salary Requirements in Spain

Spain has revised its minimum salary thresholds for key immigration permit categories, following an update by the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE) to its average salary reference figures. These changes take effect as of June 2026 and apply to foreign nationals seeking work authorization in Spain.

What Has Changed?

EU Blue Card:
The revised annual gross salary thresholds are as follows:

  • General threshold: €41,356.36
  • Reduced threshold: €33,085.09

The reduced threshold may be available in limited circumstances, such as for certain recent graduates or roles in sectors facing labor shortages.

Highly Qualified Professional (HQP) Residence Permit:

  • Minimum threshold: €41,356.36 annually

Important: Unlike the EU Blue Card, there is no reduced threshold option available for HQP permit applications.

What Does This Mean For You?

These updated figures may directly affect active or planned hiring and relocation cases in Spain. Any offers or packages that were benchmarked against previous thresholds should be reviewed promptly to ensure continued eligibility.

We recommend assessing impacted cases as soon as possible to avoid delays in your recruitment or mobility timelines.
