Ireland: ISD Advises Foreign Nationals to Submit IRP Renewals Before 31 October 2023, if Travelling During Festive Season

The Immigration Services Registration Office Burgh Quay Dublin is encouraging foreign nationals intending to travel over the December festive period, whose current permission is approaching expiry, to submit an online renewal application before 31 October 2023.

This advice is applicable to Irish Residence Permit (IRP) holders whose card expiration is within the 12-week applicable renewal period (applications filed more than 12 weeks prior to expiry may be rejected).

The ISD is currently experiencing a high volume of renewal requests and IRPs are now taking 3-4 weeks to process and a further 2 weeks for the new card to be delivered via post. Renewal requests submitted after 31 October 2023 may not be processed and delivered in time to facilitate travel over the festive period.

Please note that regardless of the date a renewal application is submitted or processed, the validity period for renewal of the IRP will be based on the current expiry date.
