Beginning on June 23, users began reporting that USCIS websites and resource pages do not appear in Google search results or the Chrome browser. The same day, a fraudulent website impersonating the official USCIS website began appearing in some search results. This spoofed site is designed to look identical to the real USCIS website and even has a banner stating that it is an official government website. Strong firewalls may block the spoofed site, but the site is a significant security threat and could be an effort by malicious actors to steal login credentials, personal information, or immigration-related data.
Spoofed (fraudulent) address: uscisdhs-gov.us
Official USCIS address: www.uscis.gov
The only legitimate USCIS website ends in .gov. Any site using a different domain—such as “.us,” “.com,” or any other variation—is not an official website of USCIS.
What You Should Do
- Always verify the URL before entering any login credentials or personal information. The address bar should read https://www.uscis.gov/
- Bookmark the official site now so you can access it directly without relying on search results: https://www.uscis.gov/
- Do not log in to MyUSCIS or submit any service inquiries through a site that does not end in .gov
- Do not enter personal information on any site you reached through a Google search without first confirming the URL is correct
As phishing and spoofing attempts become more sophisticated, use caution with hyperlinks and think twice before entering personal information online. T&S communications and resources that link to USCIS will always send users to the official .gov website.
