CBP Announces Automation of Form I-94

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency announced a rule change that will automate the Form I-94 Arrival/Departure record process so that visitors will no longer have to complete the paper I-94 and have it stamped at entry when arriving by air or sea.  According to CBP, "Travelers wanting a hard copy or other evidence of admission will be directed to to print a copy of an I-94 based on the electronically submitted data, including the I-94 number, as evidence of lawful admission."  The website,, will be live 30 days after the rule is published in the Federal Register.  The complete announcement is available online at:
